Fridcorp threw its support behind the design community as a major sponsor of Saturday in Design 2010 which descended on Melbourne on 6 & 7 August.

The country's premier design furniture, finishes, fixtures and lighting showrooms opened their doors to showcase the very best of local and international design on offer in Melbourne.

This year saw the introduction of the inaugural Fridcorp Award to 'The Project 2010' which invited Australia's best architecture, design and creative firms to partner with participating showrooms to create installations and innovations using and inspired by showroom product.

After much deliberation and over 15 showroom visits, Fridcorp, along with Callum Fraser of Elenberg Fraser and Paul Hecker of Hecker Guthrie, crowned InterfaceFLOR the 2010 Fridcorp Award winner.

InterfaceFLOR collaborated with a number of leading design studios and students including Geyer, Grey Puksand, Housemouse, Moth Design, Spaceleft, Trout Creative, Whitehouse, Woodhead and Y2 Architects to fuse fashion, fabric, flooring and inspiration to bring its vision for The Project to life in the amazing Zambesi space on Flinders Lane.

The designers were asked to 'dekonstrukt' carpet tiles into their raw ingredients and 'rekonstrukt' them into an art installation to inspire emotion.

Saturday in Design 2010 ended with a VIP Cocktail Party at ALTO where Fridcorp treated Australia's design elite to an evening of fun - complete with a delicious elm cocktail!

Although Saturday in Design is over for another year, we're feeling very inspired and look forward to incorporating some of the ideas into future Fridcorp projects.
